Beaches Are State Highways

BEACHES ARE HIGHWAYS!!!!! How is that for 1970’s thinking?

Seattle Get Aways… OK – I know this is OFF TOPIC a bit for Seattle real estate, but I do own a house in Ocean Shores, WA, too, and I just cringe at our great lovely green eco-friendly loving state’s policy on our precious beaches. Our beaches are considered STATE HIGHWAYS!!!!! Can you believe that? I start grinding my teeth every single time I think about it. Beaches are not highways and we really should do something about it. It reflects badly on the ENTIRE state – don’t you think?

Here is what I found on Wikipedia:

According to the Washington State Department of Licensing, ocean beaches are legally state highways with a general speed limit of 25 mph (40 km/h), many only open to vehicles between the day after Labor Day and April 14,[13] but state law places the beaches under the control of the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and only designates them as “public highways“.

Anyone want to start a petition?

WASHINGTON STATE BEACHES SHOULD NOT BE HIGHWAYS!!! CARS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH EVER!!!
